New School Crest

Following an extensive consultation process with our students, staff, and wider community, we are thrilled to officially launch our school's new crest! Thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas and insight, this design truly belongs to us all.

Our school's new crest is a powerful and meaningful symbol that celebrates Exhall's local history while looking forward to the future success of our students.

Every element of this design links directly to our new school motto: Strong Roots, Wise Minds, Brave Hearts.

Strong Roots: Our Local Heritage
The foundation of the crest pays tribute to the local area's proud history:

  • The Brickwork: This pattern is a direct and powerful nod to Exhall's strong industrial past, particularly the colliery and brickworks. More importantly, these interlocking bricks symbolise the strong foundations in knowledge and character that every student receives during their time at Exhall Junior.
  • The Chevron and Stars: The gold chevron was drawn from the historical coat of arms of the Nethermyll Family who once resided at Exhall Hall. The stars featured on the chevron link specifically to the Nicholas Chamberlaine Almshouses in the area and connect us visually to our sister school, Nicholas Chamberlaine School (NCS), emphasising our collaborative spirit.

Wise Minds: Knowledge and Experience
The central focus of the blue field represents our core purpose of education:

  • The Chalice (Cup): This ancient symbol, featured on the Boteler Family Coat of Arms who also resided at Exhall Hall, but its meaning is also profoundly educational. It represents a Cup of Wisdom to be received. When a child arrives at Exhall Junior, their 'cup' will be filled with enriching experiences, learning, and knowledge, preparing them for life's journey.

Brave Hearts: Courage and Community
The elements above the shield define the character we encourage in our students:

  • The Griffin: This majestic creature holds dual significance. Firstly, it proudly represents the Griffin Schools Trust that we have recently joined, signifying a commitment to excellence within a wider network. Secondly, the Griffin itself is a legendary symbol of bravery, vigilance, and strength, embodying the 'Brave Hearts' portion of our motto.

Colours of Unity
The rich colours tie together our past, present, and future: the blue maintains its long-standing connection to Exhall Junior; and the complementary burgundy and gold strengthen our visual link and partnership with NCS.

This new crest is more than a logo; it is a visual commitment to providing every child with Strong Roots, Wise Minds, and Brave Hearts. We encourage our whole community to wear this new emblem with pride!
